THE ASK
Michigan legislators tasked us with raising awareness around House Bill 4811, which would make discrimination based on natural hair and preferred hairstyles illegal in Michigan, an issue that disproportionately impacts Black people.

IDEA
Hair is more than appearance. For many Michiganders, it’s an expression of their identity, culture, and individuality. We set out to show that no one should have to change who they are to be treated fairly.

EXECUTION
We created a campaign featuring black-and-white portraits of Michiganders and their natural hair textures. The film directed viewers to a digital destination where they could learn more and show their support for House Bill 4811.
