THE ASK: Partner with legislators to help end discrimination against natural hair in Michigan (Mi), which disproportionately affects the African American (AA) community.

THE WRITE UP: From volume to texture, AA hairstyles are unique due to their hair characteristics. Not only do these styles symbolize Black beauty, but in early African civilizations, hair was considered divine.

THE CONCEPT: MiCROWN

THE IDEA: Combining Michigan's abbreviation (Mi) with 'Crown' gave life to 'MiCROWN,' a tribute to African American’s hairstyles.

To shed light on this critical issue affecting the AA community, we asked Michiganders to support House Bill NO. 4811, eliminating discrimination against natural hair in Michigan.
